Meet My Minis

It seems fitting that on the day my kids go back to school, I decide to make a blog post about them. You guys, I really really miss them right now. I'm not the type of mom who is rushing for summer break to end. I mean, theres nothing wrong with those moms, we all have varying monster tolerances, haha. You do you, you feel what you feel. But when the school year rolls around I think I have more anxiety about the first day than they do.

So as I'm sitting here in a pathetic puddle of my own tears, I got the bright idea to do a little showcase of my babes. Its probably a good idea to show you guys why I do anything in this world anyway. They are my favorite and my life consists of making sure they are healthy and happy! I happen to think they are cute and amazing. But you can see for yourself!

Meet Kieran!

He's my first born. The boy that, nearly 10 years ago, made me a mom. My first for all things that involve parenting. Since the moment I found out I was pregnant, we've been on this never ending learning experience. He teaches me how to be a good mom every single day. Sometimes I am WAY too hard on him. And most of the time I can see my insecurities coming to the surface of his personality. But I try my very best to let him know that even when he's feeling anxious and insecure, that I am right there to help him through it. I hope that he knows how much I love him.

He's very sensitive. Very hesitant. Shy at first. Incredible smart. Smarter than I could ever be. When he loves something, he loves so fiercely. It consumes him and pushes him in his passions. I love that about him. He's the kid who never wants to grow up but has always been years ahead of everyone else. He questions if he is kind. Spoiler alert, he is insanely kind. He is the sweetest boy I've ever met and I am so proud to be his mom.

This kid loves anything to do with Lego and Minecraft. He still builds with his old fashioned wooden blocks from when he was a baby. Basically anything that involves using his hands to make things, he's all about. He's obsessed with Plants vs Zombies. If you have no idea what that is, don't worry its going to be HUGE soon and your kids will be obsessed too. He has a habit of being into things before they are cool ;) He's my little reader and never turns down a good book. He loves to draw comics and I love to read his comics. He's really clever. And he has an almost unhealthy obsession with plush. I was always that girl who said, "My kids will not own a bunch of stuffed animals." Well now I'm eating my words because I am literally drowning in them. But the excitement he gets over a new plush makes it all worth it. And it helps that he ACTUALLY plays with them, haha. He is going on his 4th year in piano is really really good. And I'm not saying that because I'm his mom. I love his creative little mind.

Meet Liv!

She's my sassy 7 year old who made me a girl mom. When I found out I was pregnant with her, we were all rooting for a girl. Even Kieran. She has been such a light in our lives. She keeps me honest and open. She makes me want to work hard to always stay in her number 1 best friend spot. She is the most laid back picky person I've ever met in my life. I keep telling myself she'll grow out of it, but I think I already know that she's just doing her.

She hears it all of the time, "She looks just like you!" Its true, she is my tiny twin. And I adore that. People used to say that about my own mom and I. She never leaves my side. She's my little firecracker. Where Kieran is cautious, she is ready to jump in feet first. She's fun, bubbly, and free spirited. She never takes no for an answer. Even when I really, REALLY need her to. She chooses her friends wisely and is crazy loyal. Thats not to say she's mean to the other kids. She just doesn't have much of a tolerance for kids being mean to her. Its good that she knows what she wants. And she certainly lets you know it too. I hope that when I'm trying to control her flame, she doesn't think I'm trying to put it out.

Alivia loves anything that is tiny, cute, and can be collected in droves. So shopkins were basically made for her. She's very much into fashion. She's very vocal about her fashion opinions. Sometimes she likes to let me know how wrong I am about what goes together. She loves being outside, the sun is literally her favorite thing. Summer is her favorite time of year because she gets to live in swimsuits. She's always singing. ALWAYS. 2 years ago she asked for a CD player for Christmas. Something most kids don't even know exist. And a CD player she got. She listens to music every single night while she's falling asleep. Something I remember doing as a kid too. Her favorite artists are Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Eisley, and anything Disney. She loves to play the drums and is counting down the days till we upgrade her set because, "These ones are too small for me now." Her little musical heart makes mine swell.

While they both have their own personalities and quirks nothing warms my heart more than their love for each other. They are truly best friends. They spend every single day together. They fight, they play, they compromise, and they work together. They are both immediate apologizers. They want each other to know how sorry they are when they've hurt one or the other's feelings. They absolutely adore one another. But honestly, the best part is that they give lots and lots of hugs. I'm waiting for that day when hugging in public is too much, too embarrassing. But today is not that day. I'll take all of the hugs and snugs.

Some of you have watched these two grow from babies to big kids. And some of you are meeting them now for the very first time. Either way, I hope this post gives you a little insight on who I am as a mother and as a person. And why I do anything really. Because I want to be a good example for those sweet littles of mine.
